Sponsor Information
Sponsoring a child can literally change a life. Some children we know
came from homes where there is not enough food or clothing, no bedding,
and, most of all, no hope. Some children have no parental supervision
after the death of their parents. A few of the children live with their
grandparents where there is little or no supervision socially and educationally.
This leaves the next generation of Uganda - and Africa - a desperate,
unruly, and uneducated group of individuals. Your sponsorship of even
one life can change the face of Ugandan and the continent of Africa.
We have one little boy that always says he wants to be the next President
of Uganda when asked what he would like to be when he is grown. His sponsors
are helping that dream to become reality.
The first month of sponsoring a child you will be asked to pay an additional
$50 as a "set up" fee. Since the children come to us with lilttle
or nothing, this money is used to buy a mattress, blanket, mosquito net,
personal care items, uniforms, and shoes. This is a one time fee
to help get your child started.
If $50 a month is too much for you, $40 per month will provide education
for a dayschooler. This is a child that has a relatively safe living
enviornment and lives close enough to the school they can walk to and
from school every day. They will receive one daily hot meal, a uniform,
shoes, medical care when needed, and a very good education, by village
standards. The "set up" fee will be charged for dayschooler
too.
Since the school is not an orphanage or foster care facility, the children
are encouraged to return home to their families during school holidays.
Returning home enables the child to maintain family ties, make a stable
claim on the family property (for males), and help the family in the
garden or with the livestock. The money sent during this time is banked
to buy food during the school term. This has enabled HUGS / HCCP to keep
prices lower than other sponsorship agencies. Any child that has an untenable
situation at home is allowed to stay on the property where they are safe.
