Accomplishments
When we began our journey, we at HUGS focused our efforts on a small village in southern Uganda. We have worked along side a Ugandan NGO (or non-government organization) to build a self-sustained oasis for the area's children. Combined efforts have provided safety and improved the lives of the local children.
For six years, HUGS has been instrumental in helping to provide an education that is far superior to the area's standards, housing for area’s high risk children, and supporting 2 local women’s groups.
We are pleased to say we accomplished our primary goal of bringing this village to the point of self-sufficiency, and we did it less time than we anticipated — a few years less, in fact. We are proud of what were able to accomplish in southern Uganda, and look forward focusing our energies on other projects and other villages in Uganda, as we continue on our journey helping "one project, one village at a time."
