HUGS Hosts a "Sponsor Party" in Bonita, CA

February 18, 2006 - Helping Ugandans Grow Stronger, Inc. (HUGS) today hosted a party for participants in its child sponsorship program. The party was held at the home of Victoria and Lawrence Gibson in Bonita, California. The event celebrated the opening of the new Bright Hope primary school in Bulanga, Uganda, which was financed by HUGS donors and is now attended by all sponsored children.

Party guests were treated to a Ugandan-style meal similar to the daily meals enjoyed by the children they sponsor. Dinner included beans & rice, Ugandan-style fried cabbage, potatoes, avocados and tropical fruit. Catering and event coordination was graciously provided by volunteers Anita Paredes, Erin Lima, and Danielle Beene. All the dinnerware used will be sent to Bulanga for the children.

The HUGS Board of Directors and several HUGS volunteers were on hand to provide information and answer questions. HUGS President, Victoria Gibson, gave an update on the children, the women's groups and the construction projects in Bulanga. Director Brie Haines talked about the new school, and Kim Heinrichs (wife of Director Tom Heinrichs) spoke about the wonderful benefits of sponsorship. HUGS CFO, Lawrence Gibson, talked about how the foundation applies 100% of all donations directly to benefit the children. Finally, Director Sueann Silva provided details about the upcoming Spring Gala "Casino Night" to be held in downtown San Diego on April 29, 2006.
