Annual Spring Gala Held at The Bristol

May 1, 2007 - Helping Ugandans Grow Stronger, Inc. (HUGS) held its fourth annual gala fundraiser in the fabulous Starlight Ballroom atop The Bristol Hotel in downtown San Diego's Gaslamp Quarter on Saturday, April 28, 2007.

This year's fun-filled evening again featured casino-style gaming (Blackjack, Texas Hold-em, Roulette, etc.), plus hors d'oeuvres and an auction of ceramic bowls created by the Kids Feeding Kids program. Special guests Fred & Ruth Matovu of Hope Child Care Program (HCCP) of Uganda were on hand to answer questions about the project and the children. During the evening, the ceiling was rolled back so guests could dance under the stars!

The event raised money to expand Bright Hope School in the Ugandan village of Bulanga and to build additional housing for AIDS/HIV-affected orphans. Members of the HUGS Board of Directors answered questions about child sponsorship and the HUGS organization. As a result, 16 children received new sponsors during the evening!
