HUGS Scores a Win with "Bowling for Bulanga" Fundraiser
UPDATED April 28, 2008 - Helping Ugandans Grow Stronger, Inc. (HUGS) today held its second annual "Kids Feeding Kids" event in Chula Vista, California. Entitled "Bowling for Bulanga," it was a fun night of cosmic bowling and the most successful KFK fundraiser to date.
The event was held at Premier Brunswick Lanes, in Chula Vista, California. Tickets nearly sold out and the money raised will help fund new orphan housing for children in the village of Bulanga, Uganda. HUGS directors were on-hand to answer questions about the organization and its programs, including ways that people can sponsor individual children in the village.
"The project in Uganda is in need of additional housing for children at risk." said Victoria Gibson, President of HUGS. "We have children already waiting for these new facilities, and we are grateful that the Kids Feeding Kids program has been successful in helping meet this need."
"Kids Feeding Kids" is the brainchild of young Sofia, who decided that kids in the U.S. could do something to help kids on the other side of the world. "I just want people to know that one kid can make a difference," Sofia said. Sofia visited Uganda last year to see first-hand how her idea has benefited the children of Bulanga. HUGS wishes to express its heartfelt thanks to Sofia and to the many volunteers that helped make this second annual event such a hit!
