Completed Projects

Below is a list of some of the great things we have been able to accomplish with the help of sponsors, volunteers and mission teams.

  • The sponsored property in southern Uganda has grown from vacant bush land to a safe haven for children in the area.

  • Building projects include three classroom buildings or 11 classrooms, a church sponsored by Eastlake Church of Chula Vista, teacher's housing, director's home, kitchen, chicken coop, numerous latrines, and three group homes - one for boys, one for girls, one for the younger children, and a playground.

  • The women's groups around the property in southern Uganda gained momentum in their efforts to become independent and strong in caring for their families.

  • Because of board member's contacts, a borehole or water pump was provided to the project by Halfway There of Youth with a Mission (YWAM.) Later a filter system was installed, also funded by Halfway There.

  • Four project trips introduced Uganda to more than 50 individuals.

  • The building of a bakery in western Uganda, which will be run by a local women’s group. This bakery will provide many ways to improve the health and commerce in this area.

  • Four successful galas have been held in the San Diego area. The galas build awareness and increase the attendees knowledge of the children’s needs.

  • Kids Feeding Kids has sponsored 3 bowling events.

  • HUGS now has active participation in three states – California, Colorado, and Florida.

  • Friendships or partnership have been made with numerous Ugandans.

  • A roof was placed on a community center in The Village of Hope in Western Uganda.

HUGS is determined to add to this list with many more projects allowing the women and children of Uganda to improve their lives.
